Samphire Hoe – updated at 0750h 27/05/2025:
Both routes
– This is a mixed terrain course – choose your shoes!
- Keep left course.
- No overtaking on the wooden bridges.
- Handover area – Slow down before handover – only runners waiting to receive the baton in this area – once you’ve handed over, clear the area.
- NO EARPHONES – bone conductors are ok if you absolutely have to, but keep the volume low so you can hear marshalls and other runners.
- Runners will give way to pedestrians.
- Be careful of the wildlife.
- The gate at the top of the access tunnel will shut at 6.45pm. If Plan B is used, it will not be possible to leave until ALL runners have finished (as the exit road crosses the run route).
Plan A – run as original plan – route here – www.plotaroute.com/route/2842233 – that’s the video below where the route follows the sea wall to start.

Plan B – new route – www.plotaroute.com/route/2990139.
If Plan B is used:
- No parking in the coach area.
- Circular car park will be closed off prior to the race start.
- Runners will be set off in waves – the path is relatively narrow, and there is a gate – subsequent runners will be set off once the previous wave have cleared this.
- At Marshall Point 7 – at the end of the straight, towards the finish – the marshall will direct you to MOVE RIGHT on the road – then you’ll follow round to the right then MOVE BACK TO THE LEFT for the handover/finish.
That’s the video below where the route is in the park, away from the sea wall.
