In mid September, Brad Harvey took part in the Hurly Burly 10k swim.
This starts in Barmouth and goes 6 miles up to the George III pub in Penmaenpool.
The default for this swim is to wear a wetsuit due to the water temperature and distance but swimmers can apply to do it ‘skins’, which means just swimsuit/trunks and hat. The event rules say that all skins swimmers must use a tow float, the bright coloured inflatable bags that fix round the waist. These make swimmers easily visible and can also be used if the swimmer has an issue and needs help staying afloat.
Brad is an experienced open water swimmer and was approved to swim it skins, as you can see from the pics he was in a small minority!
He stepped out at the finish looking fresh, having enjoyed the water and views.
