Deal Tri 25 mile TT report 10-09-26

26 riders embarked on the 25 mile TT at Betteshanger Park last night in warm but slightly windy conditions. There were first timers trying the longer distance after success in the 10 mile TTs this year together with seasoned riders

The start line is further round the track so it took little time to assemble all the riders who went off in pairs every minute, some choosing to be ‘held’ at the start and everyone subject to  mild banter from Tim Malpass as they waited for the GO.

24 riders completed the course, with a couple of DNFs due to cramp and bike issues. First female home was Annette Nixon, after her win of the10 mile Club Championship and TT league earlier this year, in a time of 01:07:10 with Jill Cliff a very close second. The male title went to Rob Nichols in a time of 58:32, averaging just over 25 miles an hour and second place going to guest Richard McVey.

Finishing riders were tired and sore, but everyone seemed happy, after their amazing efforts, especially those participating in their first 25 mile event, hopefully the aches have now subsided. This was the final event of the year but it will be back next year hopefully with more 25 milers earlier in the season.
