Give plenty of room and do not force others off the path.\nRun on the left where possible to avoid getting in each other’s way.\nFollow any instructions given by the marshals.\nRunners coming in to hand over the baton\, slow down before the handover point to avoid running into other runners on the hand over line.\nKeep the hand over area clear\, only stand in the area if you are ready to receive the baton. Click here for details and eligibility. \nWe will be collecting goods for Deal Area Foodbank – items don’t have to be expensive – the list of desired stuff will be on a separate post – thank you for your generosity. \nThis event is for members plus invited guests.\nIt is run on open roads\, on an undulating 2 lap\, 5 mile route. \nThis is a handicapped race so the start is staggered according to a runners submitted time.  Faster runners will set off last.  The winner is the first runner back.\n7 December 2025\nFirst runner off at 0900h \nNorthbourne Parish Hall\, The Drove\, Northbourne \nCost – FREE – but contributions of cake and savouries are welcome for the post-run gathering\nRunning friendly Christmas themed kit is encouraged!

DESCRIPTION:This is weather permitting as needs to be dry (back up plan in Deal).\n\n\nBelow is plan for runners\, cyclists more than welcome to join too (Simon Best has let cycling what’s app groups know – aim to arrive at Ramsgate Wetherspoons about 10:40)\nSwimmers – if you fancy a Ramsgate swim you’re more than welcome too!\n\n\nThree options:\n13.2 miles – meet at Hut 55\, next to Walmer Paddling Pool\, at 0750am for 0800am away.\n7 miles – meet at Sandwich Quay 0850am for 0900ish away (will wait for the first group to arrive before leaving). If you’re driving there\, please car share and/or get a lift and be dropped off by 4 milers.\n4 miles – meet at Thanet Parkway train station at 0920am for 0925/0930ish away. If you’re driving there\, please car share. This group will run for about half a mile to join the other 2 groups\, then everyone will go to the seafront together.\n\n\n\nBreakfast will be on the lovely Wetherspoons outside terrace before getting train back to respective start points.\nTrain is approx £5-7. It’s better if we buy tickets together on the day as the group save discount is generous.\nThere is about a 15 minute walk from spoons to Ramsgate station.\n\n\nNormally I don’t ask for people to confirm if they are coming\, but for those in the 4 mile group\, please let me know so we can ensure we all meet up.\nHope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Location: Dover – Samphire Hoe \nOrganiser – Sue Bolton \n27th May 2025 \nTime – 7pm gun time – arrive by 6.30pm at the latest as the barrier will close at 6.45pm. \nFor general information about the relays\, click here \nStart point \nSamphire Hoe\, off the A20 between Dover and Folkestone – once parked\, follow the path down past the tower on to the sea wall. \nParking: \nThere is very limited parking at Samphire Hoe.  Please car share.   \nPayment in donation bucket\, to fund the upkeep of the area. \nToilets: \nThere will be portaloos at the Start (the permanent toilets at the visitor building are not connected to mains\, and cannot be used for an event with a lot of people) \nRoute \nhttps://www.plotaroute.com/route/2842233 – KEEP LEFT at all times. \nFirst Aid and water station \nAt the start/finish. \nPre-race briefing \n\nPaths are shared the public. DESCRIPTION:This page is for the general information about the relays – the date shown is of the first event\, just for website purposes. \nThe individual events are on the website Calendar\, with dates and venues.  I’ve added specific details of the routes\, facilities\, parking etc on each event page. \nGeneral information \nThis is a series of 5 events\, each one at a different location\, and are open only to members of the invited Clubs. \nThe series have been organised and coordinated by Ashford and District Athletics Club\, with input from representatives from each club taking part\, and each event is hosted by the local club.  Each leg of each event is approximately 2 miles.  The courses are on public footpaths and/or quiet roads which will remain open to the public.  Marshalls will be in place at key locations.  Each team will have a baton that contains a timing chip\, and each runner will the baton to the next runner or finish with it.  Each clubs runners will be co-ordinated by a club representative.  These events are not open to the public\, and are therefore members only. \nEach runner must be able to cover 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. \nThere are several clubs taking part in these relays so they will be BUSY!  Please car share as much as you can\, but particularly at Samphire Hoe where parking is very limited \nCommunication – these relays will be organised (as far as possible) by WhatsApp – if this doesn’t fit for you\, please let me know so we can agree a different method.  My number is 07719 636339. \nEmergency information – as the club rep\, I will need details of your emergency contact – please email them to me by 2nd April 2025 by clicking the link at the top of this page. \nPlease also add your predicted time for a 2 mile distance.  \nHeadphones – bone conductors ARE permitted. \nFirst Aiders will be in attendance at each event. \nTeams \n\nWomen – Senior (team of 3)\, V35 (3)\, V45 (3) and V55 (3)\nMen – Senior (team of 4) – V40 (4)\, V50 (3) and V60 (3)\nAnyone in a V age group can go down an age group into another V team\nEach club can have up to 4 teams – the A and B team can score points\, the C and D teams don’t score.  B teams cannot be quicker than A teams – if they are\, the timing company will swap them over.\nIf we have insufficient runners to make up a complete team for an age group\, we can make up a mixed team which will be counted as a C team\, non-scoring\nA runner can compete in only one scoring team per event.  If they compete in an A or B team (scoring)\, they may be slotted in to make up a C or D team (non-scoring)\nI need to get names to the organisers 1 week before each event\, so please let me know promptly if your plans change and you can’t make it\, or if you couldn’t make it and now you can!\n\nFacilities \n\nWater – there is only water at the finish\, not on the course\, so please make sure you are properly hydrated before arrival and that you’ve got supplies for during and afterwards\nLoos – there will either be portaloos at each event\, or public loos that have been kept open by the local authority\nChanging/baggage rooms – these are not provided so please travel light\nSafety pins etc for bibs – please bring your own fixings\n\nCost \nThe cost to our runners is just £15\, which covers you for all 5 relays.  The actual cost is £25 but the Club are subsidising by £10.  It’s not possible to provide a refund if you pay then cannot come\, as the costs still have to covered and your place will have been purchased from the organisers. \nPayment is open now – please transfer £15 to the Club account using the reference ICR25 (your surname) and then let me know that you have paid so I can include you in the team sheets: \nAccount: DEAL TRI (must be capitals) sort code 40-16-11\, account number 62656922 \nAwards \nAfter the last event\, there will be awards for the top 3 A teams across the competition\, and the first B team.  It’s very likely that the trophy will be presented for pics etc and will then be retained by the organisers for engraving.  This helps to keep the costs down and stops the trophy disappearing! \n– You do need to be a member of EA. \n– Remember that you are required to wear a Club shirt whilst running your leg of any event as we need to be able to easily identify our runners – if you need to get one\, please visit the Kit Store on the website.  If this might cause difficulty for you\, please contact Sue directly and I’ll do my best to help you.

DESCRIPTION:Rogers Coastal Relay – Social event: \nOrganisers – Sue Bolton and Simon Read. \nOpen to members and guests\nThis is a relay romp over the cliffs – think cross-country with a sea view for a lot of it!\nDate – 11 May 2025\nStart – The Valiant Sailor\, Capel Le Ferne\nFinish – Lilyroos\, Sandwich Rd\, Deal – non-runners are welcome to join\, see the details at the bottom of this post for dates.\nMeet at 0800h to collect entry cash and for briefing\, then a 1 minute silence to remember absent friends and family – 0830h start for the first team\nThe race is handicapped – any team can win so you don’t need to be fast. Teams are set off at their handicap time so you in theory all finish at the same time\nYour teams start time will be based on your combined recent 5k time. Please appoint a team Captain who will forward these times\, your team members names\, and your team name to Simon or Sue BY 27 APRIL\nRunning friendly fancy dress encouraged 😉\nFour runners per team – must be 1 Deal Tri member per team – if you want to take part but don’t have a team\, let Simon or Sue know and we will find one\nEach leg is between 1.7 and 3 miles – each member will run in the starting order\, twice – the first runner will run 3 times.\nEach team will be given directions\, but the run has self navigational routes.\nA driver must pick up and drop off each runner at (or close to) the handover points (some are not accessible by car!)\, hopefully before the previous runner finishes their le\nEach team must have an item that is passed from the incoming run to the outgoing runner. Past items have included a toy De Lorean and a rubber chicken – you get the idea!\nAwards to the 1st\, 2nd and 3rd team of 4 in. Others may wish to run in a team of 3 or 2 or even alone but this fundamentally is a team event so will not qualify for an award\, although all times are recorded.\nLillyroos lay on a BBQ for you (meat or veggie) with a coffee or tea at the finish\, approx 1200/1230h – and the bar will be open too!\nCost – £10 members (Deal Tri subsidise the rest of the cost)\, £15 guests – numbers for food (runners plus any guests) need to be in BY 4 MAY
