Saturday = parkrunday

It’s Saturday so that’s parkrun day! Here’s the roundup from Deal Tri in our little corner of the world.

Starting at our home parkrun at Walmer and Deal Seafront, a blustery day both hampered and helped our 32 runners! Ash Roberts-Moyle put in a brilliant effort, and pushed hard right to the end without slacking, to secure a personal best (PB) time. Steve Wright followed suit with his own PB, along with Aaron Hill who managed a personal PB (not a parkrun one). Joseph Gibb was the Club’s Junior member running at WADS today.

For info, children under 11 are allowed to do the Saturday parkrun but MUST be within arms reach of their responsible adult – this can be parent, carer, guardian, or another trusted adult of the family’s choice. Adult parkruns aren’t suitable for unaccompanied under 11s. There’s a lovely Junior parkrun at Betteshanger Park on Sunday morning at 0900h every week – it’s free to take part, 2km course.

At Dover Waterfront parkrun, Mark Baldock continued his streak of good form by finishing very close to his best time, and Simon Cox’s next one will be his 300th!

At Pegwell Bay, James Wisbey put parkrun into his Saturday long run, and Mark Baker enjoyed the seaside course at a steady pace.

Further afield, Jane Wisbey took part in the Severn Bridge parkrun – 2 countries in one parkrun! Sean Richards tackled a hot and hilly Lancaster parkrun including a segment called ‘I think I’m going to be sick’, and Hilary Collins did a parkrun tourist run in Jersey.

The sun has now come out, hopefully it will stay there for our social run tomorrow – Northbourne Parish Hall, 0830 meet for 0840 away, an on-road 8 miler, an off-road 8 miler, and a slower 3 mile road run. Cuppa and chat after, all done by 1100. Non-members welcome for a couple of social runs. Please car share. See you there ๐Ÿงก
