Home parkrun Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun saw 60 members, including 3 Juniors, enjoy the beautiful conditions and the added excitement of Chase the Pacer week! James Wisbey was the first finisher overall, with David Feasey following close behind in third. First female Dealie was Anita Pollard, with second Alison Tong. Sam Carr rang the bell for a new personal best time that would have got him the coveted On The Nose trophy if he had been pacing (for having the exact time – 23:00!). Mark Lord was delighted to finally get under 24 minutes, it’s taken a little while, but he’s done it! Bea Fox slashed almost a minute off her previous best time, which has stood for nearly 3 years – that’s such an achievement, well done, Bea. Dave Hoile and Nathan Ross also both came in with quickest times, with Nathan smashing through a 1year old best time.
Karl Prior deserves a particular mention. He has recently finished the Couch to 5k course and has continued running. He has hit a new fastest time on 8 of 11 weeks – tremendous progress, Karl, it’s exciting seeing you make such improvements. Michaela Henniker has also just graduated C25k, got a new best time and has completed our Deal Tri Virtual Dinosaur 10k challenge too! Fantastic work.
As for Pacers, Mark Baldock, John Sharvill and Stuart Comlay (the very first winner of the Nose) now have joint custody of the glittering On The Nose trophy, for 27:00, 30:00 and 36 minutes respectively.
Over at Whitstable, Simon Cox flew the orange flag solo, while at Canterbury, Dave Pickup, Stuart Gibson, Tony Ansell and Gaby Roch took on this slopey course. Hilary Collins ran her local Folkestone parkrun, and Junior member Jasper was at Pegwell Bay. Steve Wright was at Margate, Sally and Andy Russell at Lanhdrock, ex-pat Kev Gardner at his home parkrun at Preston Park, Helen Hill at March, but this weeks most travelled were Junior member Joseph and dad Dave Gibb, at Tempelhofer Feld in Germany, before Dave’s Berlin marathon the following day.
After parkrun, our existing and trainee Run Directors had some excellent training 👏
