SUMMARY:Gertrude Ederle 100th Anniversary Swim
DESCRIPTION:STOP PRESS – Deal Tri members get 20% off with the discount code “DEALTRI26” !\n\nThis event is being organised by Sarah Phillport an ex Deal Tri Member.\n\nThese are her words\n\n\n\n\nLast year we celebrated the 150th Anniversary of Captain Matthew Webb’s historic English Channel Swim which he completed on 25th August 1875 in a time of 21hrs 45minutes. It took a further 51 years and over 80 attempts from various swimmers (including 4 successful male swimmers) before the first woman would achieve the same daring feat. But on 6 August 1926\, Gertrude Ederle made history and became the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel\, and in doing so she broke the overall speed record in a time of 14hrs 39minutes. Gertrude returned to America a national heroine\, where a crowd of 2million people attended one of the largest ticker-tape parades that New York City has ever seen.\n\n\nSo it gives me great pleasure\, on behalf of Dover Life Guard Club and the Port of Dover Waterfront\, to invite you to participate in the Gertrude Ederle 100th Anniversary Swim.\n\n Bank Holiday Monday\, 31 August 2026\n from 10am to 5pm\n Dover Harbour\, Esplanade\, Dover CT17 9FS\n\n\n\nTo BOOK your place\, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/…/gertrude-ederle-100th…\n\nAll swimmers will receive a commemorative Gertrude Ederle Swim Hat\, specially designed by Dave Chisholm.\n\n\nThis year we’ve increased capacity\, allowing more swimmers to take part in the celebrations.\n\nThere are four waves to choose from:\n\n\nWave 1 – Novice 500 m Swim (Ages 11+) \nIdeal for beginner open water swimmers. \n\nRegistration: 10:30 am\nSwim start: 12:00 pm\nCut-off time: 45 minutes\n\n\n\nWave 2 – Relaxed 2 km Swim (Ages 14+)\nFor swimmers who typically swim 2 km/hr or a little longer.\n\nRegistration: 11:15 am\nSwim start: 12:45 pm\nCut-off time: 1 hour 15 minutes\n\n\n\nWave 3 – Moderate 2 km Swim (Ages 14+)\nFor swimmers who average around 2.5 km/hr.\n\nRegistration: 12:30 pm\nSwim start: 2:00 pm\nCut-off time: 1hr\n\n\n\n\nWave 4 – Fast 2 km Swim (Ages 14+)\nFor swimmers averaging 3 km/hr or faster who would like to race.\n\nRegistration: 1:30 pm\nSwim start: 3:00 pm\nCut-off time: 45 minutes\n\n\n\nFollowing the swim\, there will be a carnival procession hosted by Future Foundry beginning at 3.45pm at the Swimmer Statues (opposite the slipway)\, passing Dover Sea Sports Centre and finishing at Marina Curve for the prize presentation and live music. Captain Webb’s giant puppet\, which made its debut last year\, will be joined by a brand-new giant puppet of Gertrude Ederle. If any strong swimmers would like the honor of carrying one of the puppets in the procession\, please contact office@futurefoundry.org.uk.\n\n\n\nCan’t wait to see you in Dover for another memorable day of swimming and celebration. \n

SUMMARY:East Invicta masters' swim gala 2026 - No normal swim session
DESCRIPTION:This gala takes place in our pool so there will be no normal swim coaching this evening. \nFrom Torren: “Here are the rules regarding exiting the pool for relay swimmers competing at East Invicta on Saturday: swimmers should exit the pool via the steps as quickly as possible once they have finished but not impede other competitors. The last swimmer should wait until all teams have finished and only exit the pool\, again via the steps\, once instructed by the official.” \nand reminder from Jax \n \nHere is the official program of events  Programme Masters   and the accepted entries Accepted Entries Masters \nIt does not show the heat numbers\, but you can see which event number you are in.  The heats do not get allocated until the day. \nIf we can meet up at 4pm please and get straight through to pool side as soon as they let us. I will have a beautiful orange masters Tshirt for you to wear for the evening\, and Sally will have some Deal Tri caps that can be bought for £5 each. I would recommend wearing a Deal Tri swim cap if you can. It makes it easier for your team mates to cheer you on – and it may encourage the goggles to stay put. \nYou can dive in or start in the water – whatever you prefer! \nRemember your water bottle and maybe a second towel. \nPlease let Jax know you are here – we have to submit a register by 4.15.  I don’t know what we do with the relays if we have No Shows! \nIT WILL BE FUN!!!!! There are nibbles and drinks afterwards in Studio 3 for the presentations and thank yous. \nThanks to Kirsty\, Dawn\, Jeya and Bea for being the Deal Tri Marshal crew! \nWe have our own dedicated whip Jax – she will help insure you are at the right place at the right time. But it would help if you are prepared too. There will be lots of print outs – remember the reading glasses. \nYou can see what individual events you are in and she will herd and usher the relay teams.  You can see below what relays you are in. \nList of what each event number is below – There should be no surprises. \n \n  \n \n———————————————————————————————————————— \nOur swimmers: \n \nThis “proper” masters gala is for all our senior Deal Tri members who are ASA registered.  Details of how this was done are here https://www.dealtri.co.uk/news/a-s-a-membership/ \nWe compete against other clubs\, either in individual events or part of the club relay team. You have chosen and paid for your  individual events (£5 per event) and Jax and I have sorted out the relay teams.  (Club pays)  The older you are the better!! \nIt is great fun and there are loads and loads of medal! \n2026 East Invicta Masters Swimming Championships\nDover Leisure Centre\, Saturday April 18th    Warm Up: 1615hrs – Start: 1700hrs \nThe 2026 EIASA Masters Championships will take place at Dover Leisure Centre on Saturday April 18th. Trophies for the Top Swimmers and Best Club will be presented in Dance Studio 3 (under the stairs beside the squash courts) – This will take place as soon as practicable after the last event. SUMMARY:400/200m TT Swim
DESCRIPTION:This is a bit of fun and the opportunity to see how fast you can swim 8 or 16 lengths and whether you are improving.  Then you can time your mates (stopwatches and official looking clipboards provided) and there will be some fun and games to fill in the rest of the session. Do not be scared – it is only as serious as you want it to be – For me – I am just pleased when my goggles stay on and I manage to  finish. My boys\, on the other hand\, tend to get rather competitive wanting to beat  not only their own previous times but more importantly –  each other.  This is a totally inclusive event – our swimmers range from very fast to very very slow and from 90 years of age to 6! There are no excuses. All welcome. \nNo booking necessary – Just turn up – and encourage others to do so  too. \nBring a spare towel\, a bottle of water and if you are helping to time – maybe your reading glasses \nNov 24 results here \nhttps://www.dealtri.co.uk/wp-includes/images/media/spreadsheet.svg \n
