Running League

The Club has designated six different distances to feature on the Running League Tables.  These are 5k, 5miles, 10k, 10 miles, Half Marathon and Marathon.  Once you have run one of these distances please let Pat Kelly know asap and Pat will then record your time on the “Master Table”.  When you have times for at least 3 different distances you can be recorded onto the Running League Table proper, where you will be ranked on each distance with others who have done a minimum of 3 races.  Your best 3 fastest scores are then added up for your placing on the table. Any race between Jan 1st – Dec 31st will count, as long as you were a current member at the time.  There are awards for each category for both Male and Females at the end of the year.

What seems like a sprint finish from Ashley Holmes changes the complexion of the 2011 Running League, placing him in joint 1st position alongside Paul Campling

53 members completed three qualifying races, over the 2011 season, compared with 52 in 2010.
62 others could so easily have joined their numbers, having completed one or two races but alas!

Of the six qualifying distances only three of the 442 membership achieved a "full house" in 2011, compared with eight last year:
Kev Brown, Simon Reid and Margaret Reidy.
Seven others completed five of the six disciplines; much the same as the eight of 2010.

Again we see Michelle Read (Sen) Clare Wiseman (Sup) Kev Brown (Sup) & Dave Martin (Vin) sustain their supremacy in age group categories with back to back leader board positions.

Returning to the top of their categories are Jill Cliff, David Chapman-Jones and Hazel Lander.

Running League positions are determined by the sum of the three best positions secured in each discipline. Clearly commitment to Marathon training and participation holds its reward, as does a quick sprint or slow waddle in aid of Breast Cancer Research:

Of the 53 represented in the 2011 Running League:

25 competed in a 5K
36 competed in a 5M
45 competed in a 10K
34 competed in a 10M
36 competed in a Half Marathon
18 competed in a Marathon.
