Maddest Event of the Year - So Far!
Well done and I am very glad you survived to Club treasurer Alla Cassidy who today completed, to my knowledge, our first ice marathon in her native Russia. Alla ran 26.2 miles across a frozen lake Baikal, in the Lake Baikal Ice Marathon the world largest and deepest fresh water lake in a time of 5 hours and 1 minute. I think she said the temperature was going to be about -20, however after being the second Russian Lady ever to swim the Channel and various other adventures this is another impressive acheivement for Alla.... She said of todays adventure "I did my first ice marathon in 5h01min! The lake was amazing and the first 15.5km we run on Black Pure Ice. The worst thing was to hear and feel ice cracking under your feet. I was so glad to back on land after a long journey"
What can I say about that one....
