Past member, top Marathon Runner, Top Cyclist, Triathlete and Duathlete and throughly good bloke, Phil Anthony has sent me this request which I am delighted to pass on for him:
"I'm just about to enter the 3rd year of my degree at Christ Church University and start my dissertation, I am looking for any possible volunteers and thought this might be of interest to some of the tri club, would you be able to pass this email on to anyone you feel may want to take part.
The Idea is going to be based around body composition (skin fold tests and the bodpod) in males (sorry, no females for this one) that train more than 6 hours a week. As you may be aware the current method that is most widely used is skin fold tests and involves several measurements of subcutaneous fat at different locations on the body, these are then used to estimate your body fat through a series of equations. I am going to be looking into whether these equations are suitable for trained male athletes or if they require an adapted model. I'll bore you with the details if you would like any further info.
Basically it would require you to visit the lab once for around 30 min, I will record you fat/lean percentage in the bod pod and with the use of skin fold callipers and give you the results straight away. This is really useful data and something that I used a lot in training in the run up to the marathon."
Anyone out there who can help Phil please contact him on 07707 116630 (the email he gave me doesn't work)
