Rollapaluza competition
« on: June 12, 2012, 06:03:15 PM »
just a thought at the moment , I have this idea of holding a rollapaluza event (rollapaluza is head to head indoor roller racing with a fast paced beat music and an MC..google it for further details)sometime next year. it will all depend on costs, numbers of interested people ,available venues etc etc. any thoughts, critisisms etc

Will be really good Tony - great events, great atmosphere and some beers to make it all even more fun! Will definitely support and I reckon you could sell tickets to other clubs too.

It doesnt need to be just for cyclists as I think a few rowers might give us a run for our money too.
The new watersports centre in Dover and Fowlmead come to mind as suitable venues.
Looks great!

To All, i have recieved an estimate from rollapaluza..their costs depend primarily on location of the event and who is paying for it ,it depends on whether it is a private event or a community event. anyway for an evenings community event (which i think ours would be) in our area it would cost about £661 including VAT plus an amount to put the crew up in a budget hotel for the night plus the hire of the venue, so probably looking at getting on for £1000 or so. in total. this would need to be recouped through ticket sales ... 100 punters  £10 a ticket ..any thoughts ??

I have contacted Rollapaluza (its a company who seem to own the franchise) to send their setup down here with two guys, including required hotel accomodation , plus venue hire, we are probably looking at about £1000 for the evening. so it will require some serious thought , but if we could pull it off it would really be great

Cheers Perry, thanks for that...the biggest worry though would be stumping up the grand required to hold it  ..(any Deal tri members with that kind of loose change !!?) :D

Hi tony

What about getting people to commit up front to this ?? What about laying on food and drink too, make a really good club evening of it ?? Would we need to get other local clubs involved to generate enough numbers to make it a reasonable cost for people ?? I think between £10 and £30 is ok especially if food is laid on ??

As I'll be coming from Medway for this, could you recommend a good B & B ?? Unless a club member would be willing to give a bed for the night ?? Especially if there is drinking envolves lol.

I know the Rollapaluza Team tour the UK during Autumn and Winter each year and set up public competitions which anyone can enter.  They usually set up in a bar or cycle oriented cafe and you pay to take part. The winners from each competition then go through to a Grand Final at Easter.
The dates for Autumn - Winter 2012-13 have not been announced yet, but I think it would make it more affordable if we perhaps went to the London date on the train and had a night out in London?
Just a thought, and no financial risk to the Club?
