Club President - Ian Pettitt
On the 18th of July, 9500 riders started from the city of Pau to climb 3 monuments of the Pyrénées : col de Marie-Blanque, col du Soulor and the giant Tourmalet.
The distance total was 181 km with imposing landscapes: Plateau de Bénou, Gorges de l’Ouzom and Gorges de Luz, summit of Soulor… 3 Dealies were amongst the finishers, and congratulations to them on great times! Please note all three are related to mountain goats or perhaps marmots…….

I have received the following update from Kerim
..just a couple of details : you put up the times from when the elites set off, which for all dealies ( who were way back in the river of cyclists ) means a huge time lag before we reached the start line.
here are also ‘real times ‘ and positions that have been publishd…ie – timing starting from the moment each rider passes the start line……and they are the amended times above :
You all may be interested to know that the course really disadvantaged the people towards the back at the start – unlike the marmotte ( which has a 8m wide and stright road for the first 10k ), this course started with about 4 km through narrow streets where overtaking was not possible and was peppered with plenty of foot-down moments where the road narrowed. the first little hill at 13 km was also a real problem for many as we slowed down to about 6k/hr. I heard from some friends who started in different places that they had to do quite a bit of walking…..one claimed to have walked for over 1.5km – ouch !!! )…
Thank you to Lex Dalton who sent me the following report:
“On Sunday 18th myself and Tim Malpass took part in the Anthony Maynard sportive ran by Reading CC, A route stating in Reading heading to Swindon, then a turn to Marlborough, then back to Reading. Hampered by a stiff headwind and wet conditions, the 123 mile route of relentless rolling terrain was only broken up by 17 bigger climbs. The route was found to be very challenging with a total accent of 4287 metres.
It was an excellent event very well signposted and organised and a must for the serious sportive rider next year.

Click this link to see the 2010 CYCLE LEAGUE TABLE which Cycle Sec David Mayes (pictured) has put together, including a full set of results for 10,25, 50 and 100 miles for David himself. A modest chap, David rode a 100 miler today and posted an impressive time of 4:20:42 on an Essex course. When I get some more info I will post.
