Well done to “Stone Cold” Ross Austin and Andy “Butterbean”Widdett who today finished the Tough Guy near Wolverhampton which is apparently the Worlds safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance………. The race takes in sub zero lakes, Fire Walking, Electrical Prods and snow and mud. Here is a Map of the Course for those who may wish to have a go next year, well perhaps not after looking at these BBC photographs from the race! (well not so sure about tough, isn’t that a can of Fosters there on the wall Ross?)
Deal Tri will be running in the popular Sunday Kent Fitness League X Country. There are 7 races throughout the coming winter which will be suitable for all members to take part in. Please click this LINK to see the dates and locations. Tim Wiseman will be posting updates on the Forum concerning lifts etc and more details etc.

In response to numerous requests from members we have approached the KFL with a view to staging an event in the Total Fitness X Country league fixtures for 2009/2010, and, for Deal Tri to take part in the league for the first time in many years. The league is not the same as the x country events we have taken part in over the past 6-7 years in that the KFL events are on a Sunday instead of a Saturday.
The fixtures are usually held at the following venues, although Deal Tri is aiming to stage a fixture at Fowlmead using part of the mtb course that has been developed there over the winter:
Minnis Bay
Avery Hill Park New Eltham
Oxleas Wood Shooters Hill Eltham
Nurstead Court Meopham
Blean Woods Canterbury
The events are specifically for non elite runners and each team requires a minimum of 10 finishers for each event, with at least 3 of the team being female (Tony – you won’t qwualify as a woman even if you do wear a skirt and bra). Distances are usually around 5 miles and the events start in October and run throughout the winter season.
Any members interested in taking part in this event if we are fortunate enough to be included in the fixtures for the next season should register their interest on the forum thread so that we can get an idea of numbers.
