Merrell Tuffman MTB Duathlon

On the 6th February, Marco Misticoni and Graham Dimmock did the Merrell Tuffman, held on the Pippingford Estate in the Ashdown Forest. This was the last race in Merrell’s Off-road Duathlon series and was a 10k run/16k MTB/5k run. The venue was fantastic, with a really picturesque run, which helped take their minds of the hilly/wet/boggy parts. The technical MTB course was really good too, with a couple of heart in the mouth decents and plenty of sliding around. Graham finished in 2:57:54, about an hour behind X-terra Elite and winner Sam Gardner. The last competitor came in at 4hours and a bit. Marco put in a strong run on the 10k before suffering a DNF Disc brake mechanical on the bike leg.(apparently, Graham might have contributed to this when loading up the car the morning ) It was a really good race, with a laid back atmosphere; a really good way to give your off season tri training a focus. If anyone in the club fancies this type of race, the Ashford Tri Club Off-road Duathlon is on the 14th March.
